Use clear inclusive range syntax
Separate instructions with commas. A value such as 4 selects one page, while 4-9 selects pages 4 through 9 inclusive. The token last selects the final source page.
A sequence such as 2-5, 9, 14-18 produces one deduplicated selection. Invalid or out-of-range tokens should be corrected before output.
Replace or add to the selection
Replace mode discards the current selection and applies only the entered range. It is the safest choice when the range defines the complete result.
Add mode retains the current selection and appends new pages. Use it when visual review found exceptions that are difficult to describe in one range.
Use odd, even and invert deliberately
Odd or even selection can isolate fronts and backs from duplex scans. Invert swaps selected and unselected pages, which is useful when it is faster to identify a small exclusion set.
Page numbering refers to PDF page position, which may differ from printed numbers visible inside the document.
Understand reverse ranges and custom order
A reverse range such as 9-5 means pages 9, 8, 7, 6 and 5 in custom selection order. In source-order mode, the same selected set returns to 5 through 9.
Review the numbered output sequence before export whenever custom order is active.
Put the workflow into practice
Select exact pages visually or by range, choose their output order, then create and verify one focused PDF while preserving the source.
