Clear answers before conversion
What is RTF?
RTF is an editable rich-text document format supported by many word processors.
Is RTF editable?
Yes. The generated file can be opened and edited in compatible word processors.
Does PDF to RTF preserve formatting?
Preserve Layout reconstructs detected fonts, sizes, colors, emphasis, alignment, indentation, paragraphs and page breaks. Complex fixed layouts may still require adjustment.
Can scanned PDFs be converted?
Auto OCR can reconstruct text on detected scanned pages. Recognition and formatting must be reviewed.
What happens to images and tables?
Supported PNG/RGB image objects are embedded, and only high-confidence coordinate grids become RTF tables. Unsupported graphics and ambiguous tables are disclosed in the fidelity warnings.
Why does converted text shift?
PDF uses fixed coordinates while RTF uses flowing paragraphs, so columns and positioned content can reflow.
